日本時間今日早朝4時に米国公開市場委員会(FOMC)の声明が公表されました。
前回の記事で、注目されるのは
「今年の利上げペースに変化を示唆するものかどうかだ」
と言いましたが、実際の内容はどうだったでしょうか？
結論から言えば、非常に玉虫色で曖昧な内容だったと言えます。
まず、ハト派的内容の部分は・・・
Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in December suggests that labor market conditions improved further even as economic growth slowed late last year.
昨年末の経済成長が「減速した」という表現で、景気判断を下方修正しました。
Market-based measures of inflation compensation declined further;
インフレ期待も「一段と低下した」という踏み込んだ表現に。
This assessment will take into account a wide range of information, including measures of labor market conditions, indicators of inflation pressures and inflation expectations, and readings on financial and international developments.
「世界経済」への警戒感も示されています。
一方で、タカ派的な印象をマーケットに与えたのは、
The Committee currently expects that, with gradual adjustments in the stance of monetary policy, economic activity will expand at a moderate pace and labor market indicators will continue to strengthen.
経済活動が「拡大」し、労働市場の指標は「力強く」なり続けるという見方を維持した上で、
The Committee expects that economic conditions will evolve in a manner that will warrant only gradual increases in the federal funds rate;
「緩やかではあるが利上げをしていく」という姿勢に変化が見られなかったことです。
ここの表現に変化を期待していたマーケットは、株価の大幅反落という形で失望を露わにしました。
